No soot on the walls. It always happens to me this time of year. Tonight's low temperature where I live in SC is predicted to be 25° F., not including the wind chill that's supposed to be in effect. I mean, sure, there are holidays around every corner, hot cider, Charlie Brown specials and pleasant visits from family and friends. But what should be an otherwise enjoyable time of year is often quite uninspiring through the hassle of always trying to dress warm enough, always waiting for the car to heat up, not wanting to get out of bed until you can feel your toes and, of course, always trying to keep wood burning in the fireplace.
Being from south Florida, I didn't grow up always preparing for weather nor was I taught how to use a fireplace. That's probably why, when I spent my first winter here in Columbia, I created a disaster by trying to light the one in my apartment. From camping as a child I had learned how to build a strong fire, but I didn't know the anatomy of a fireplace. See, there's this little thing called a damper, a valve that closes the flue when the fireplace is not in use. I didn't know it was there so I didn't know I was supposed to open it before lighting the fire. Needless to say, as soon as my apartment began filling up with smoke I knew something wasn't right and was forced to extinguish the fire I made. And, even though it was only lit for a matter of seconds, it took me nearly an hour to air out the smoke that had intruded my living space. Unfortunately, though, even when all the smoke was gone there remained a thin film of dirty, black soot on my walls, doors, appliances, and practically everything I owned. The mess that took a minute to make took me and my wife days to completely wipe clean.
It would be easy to get mad at the fire itself, but this was human error. This was my error. The fire itself didn't do anything wrong. Maybe if I'd grown up with more experience around fires I would have known that the fire was behaving just as fire always has and always will behave. There is proof of this all around the world where primitive man lit torches to illuminate their inhabited caves and crypts. Usually, the longer a family or tribe dwelt in that cave, the longer they lit their torches to enable themselves to see, the thicker the layer of soot is that remains on the walls today. The soot left behind on the walls is data that, when analyzed, modern archaeologists can use to determine when a tribe lived there and how long they lived in that particular area.
Enter Egypt into the equation. Egypt is full of ancient caves, crypts, tunnels and temples. Hieroglyphs and inscriptions abound on the walls inside these dark passages. What's the problem, you ask? Well, there isn't any problem except in some of these places there is no soot to be found on the walls and the method employed by the ancient Egyptians to see while they painted their hieroglyphs in these dark places remains a great mystery. There are, however, two leading theories.
Traditional Egyptologists insist that ancient Egyptians arranged a complex system of shiny, large copper panels throughout the tunnels, which would reflect the sunlight needed to complete the drawings. This, they say, is the only possible way Egyptians could have been able to properly view the progress of their work without the aid of torches.
Some ufologists and historians, however, offer an alternative theory. Instead of copper mirrors, they propose that ancient Egypt was in possession of advanced technology allowing them to easily and efficiently illuminate their working space.
Unfortunately, neither view is completely satisfying. On the one hand, a complicated system of large copper panels seems an unlikely source of sufficient light, especially in some of the longer tunnels containing many bends and corners. On the other hand, though, aside from the megalithic statues and the existence of the pyramids themselves, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that ancient Egypt possessed any kind of advanced technology such as electricity or incandescent light bulbs . . . right?
The Dendera Light Bulb.
The photographs shown here are of one of the most fascinating hieroglyphs comprising three stone reliefs - one double representation (left) and one single (below) - in the Hathor Temple at the Dendera Temple Complex located in Egypt.
Some ufologists and historians assert that this is a representation of an ancient light bulb, advanced technology that ancient Egypt possessed enabling them to see through the darkness and check the progress of their artwork without leaving behind the lampblack deposits.
All aspects of the Dendera reliefs correspond exactly to modern electrical specifications. The bulb size and shape, the position of the elements relative to each other, and even the wiring patterns and insulators all match their modern counterparts, the only major difference being the use of symbolic imagery, such as gods and animals, to communicate certain concepts. Go ahead; take a good look at it. It appears to have all
the components of a modern day light bulb. It has a transparent encasing. It has a filament, represented by a snake, coming out of the socket, which is represented here by a lotus flower. If you look closely enough, it even seems as though it is plugged into some kind of box sitting to the right of it.
Is the Dendera image, indeed, a depiction of an ancient light bulb indicating the presence of advanced technology in what is widely assumed to have been a primitive, agrarian society? Although the drawing looks promising, some hard questions still remain. First, and foremost, is how the Egyptians could have acquired such a useful tool in the first place (which ufologists claim had to come from extraterrestrials). Secondly, even after obtaining this tool, electrical energy to power it would have been essential and, as we all know, no such device to generate electricity has ever been found.
Or has it?

I hate riddles like this . . .
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what to make of this type of mystery. Modern polished copper has a reflectivity of 99%, which means that it reflects 99% of the light that hits it. I have no idea if ancient copper has those same properties of not. What I do know, I think, is that I have never seen any copies of pictures on the walls of ancient Egyptian pyramids or temples that show large copper panels being used to reflect the sunlight into these dark chambers. I have seen pictures showing embalming methods, battle tactics, religious rites and all manner of other things, but no copper panels. They just didn't seem to exist.
Polished copper mirrors reportedly existed in Egypt from around 3000 BC. I suppose it was possible for them to have used this kind of method to light up the inside of the chambers but there is absolutely no evidence of it and, if there is evidence that the pyramids were built before that time, then the use of mirrors would have been impossible.
On the other hand, the so-called bulb in the reliefs doesn't do it for me, either. First, it's huge. If it was built by et's and given to the Egyptians, then I would think they would have been able to build a smaller bulb, more or less like those we have today.
Still, the likeness (other than the size factor) is striking and I cannot ignore that either. This is fascinating but inconclusive to me. Like a lot of what happened in ancient Egypt, it puzzles me more than enlightens me. Keep the stories coming . . . they're interesting.
It is proven that copper mirrors or pannels dosnt work. at some point the pannels will lose the sun light, after a few corners. Lets just face it. thomas edison is not the first to invent the light bulb. electricity could have been around for ages. its incredible anyway.
DeleteCurioser and curioser...
ReplyDeleteThough I think this stuff truly fascinating--I have the hardest time believing the Ancient Egyptians posessed anything akin to modern electricity. The Egyptians had a civilization lasting thousands of years. They traded with many different societies including the Byblos, the Greeks and Crete among others. The nature of human history is to copy, borrow, buy or steal precious goods and technology... and certainly one as practical as having the 'magic' ability to light dark places! It would seem the best kept secret of all time if the Egyptians posessed this (whether from extraterrestrial beings or not) and died with it, with nary a slave, trader, conquerer or ally sneaking away with the device. Wasn't it Franklin who quipped that three can keep a secret if two of them are dead?

ReplyDeleteLuiz, I agree with you and that's why these things give me a headache. If you don't believe the Egyptians had electricity then you are left with the problem of identifying what exactly the picture is showing and, so far as I know, it doesn't look much like anything else except a very large bulb connected to a power source.
To me, the only way it could be an electrical light source is if the Egyptians were somehow "given" it by ET's. As you mentioned, if it was a device invented or developed by one of their own (or even a neighboring civilization) then it would have been passed down to other generations and improved upon. Since that obviously did not happen, I can only assume this was a device that they possessed but did not understand. Still, even that is a stretch . . . I give up.
Luiz, thanks for the comment. I knew we'd get some input from you sooner or later and for the record I'm glad it was sooner.
ReplyDeleteIf the ancient world did possess advanced technology, I believe it was largely denied to the masses. Unfortunately, unlike today, where most technology is freely available to the public, the Egyptian priesthoods would have most likely kept the technological knowledge to themselves in order to keep the peasants docile and easily controlled. I believe it was frequently used in temples and ceremonies to gain power over people by amazing or terrifying them; which could have very easily been part of the worship and mystery. Hopefully this helps to explain how Egypt was able to keep this technology to themselves without the “secret” getting out. Only few possessed it, and as John pointed out when he stole my thunder, even those who possessed it may not have understood it.
If anybody is still listening this post....
ReplyDeleteHas anybody considered that the Dendera 'light bulb' is not a light bulb at all but a 'tube'
that looks like a high frequency gizmo holding up the bulb.
so maybe ET was trying to phone home, not light up the room.
Jim, anything is possible I suppose. I don't know much about high frequency tubes. Perhaps you could help me by elaborating on why you think these pictures portray 'tubes' instead of light bulbs. For my conclusion about this bulb, please see my post about the Baghdad Battery:

Thanks for stopping by. I'm always listening.
If you want to learn something interesting and true, all of you should look into Gestalt theory. It poses, correctly I might add, that when the human mind observes something that it can't understand it will make sense of it by injecting that observance with previous knowledge and observations. For example, humans will look at the clouds and see shapes of bunnies or look at a hieroglyph and see a lightbulb. All I know is that Egyptians weren't running around playing German Spotlight. No, they played awesome games like roll the hoop with a stick... YIPPEEE!!! So, if all of you could just do the world a favor and shut up about this load of crap and realize that its in your mind, I would really appreciate it. Really, I'm just kidding. It's all in good fun, but seriously, I think further inspection needs to be taken into the realm of what our minds are capable of tricking us into. There's lots of things. Don't even get me started on Alien UFO's. And trust me, for a lot of these dendera light folks, Alien visitation is considered the obvious solution. Ha. HAHAHA. Just remember; Gestalt Theory.
ReplyDeleteWell...
ReplyDeleteI guess you're not always listening.
It looks more like the magnetosphere to me.
ReplyDeleteOh, and here is a Christian version:

I think that a comprehensive read of 'Secrets of the Lost Races' by Rene Noorbergen, will provide many a compelling answer to these questions.
ReplyDeleteThe truth of the matter is that many scientists today and government authorities, are very much involved in a cover-up. ie. witholding artefacts / evidence which would totally blow their theories 'out of the water'.
Great Article! I think that you make some great points about each subject, but on the Dendra Light Bulb (and this is the first I've heard of it btw, so thanks for the article!) I just don't really see it- not only is it HUGE, but a light bulb generates HEAT, and the relief clearly shows people holding it up. What I see in the relief is either a giant eggplant (maybe they had a great harvest that year...) or a depiction of snakes being captured in jugs, but I'm just not seeing a light bulb.
ReplyDeleteIn saying that, I'm not a completely unbelieving skeptic. I do believe that aliens have been visiting us, and even bringing technology for thousands of years- but I still try to look at everything with an open mind, meaning open to ANYTHING, and the Dendra light bulb theory just looks like wishful thinking to me.
If it is a GIANT eggplant wouldn't that also imply advanced technology? Some kind of hormonal genetic plant mutation?
ReplyDeletetwo words you must consider... "Baghdad Battery".

ReplyDeletePerhaps this is ancient technology from Atlantis. Its not a light bulb but something much more. Perhaps this technology was also part of the downfall of Atlantis. Few were left that understood it. Others that survived because of the devastation lost the civilation that they had and slowly slipped backwards in time. Meaning the knowledge they had was lost and became that of legends and folklore. Over time because of its power to create or destroy those that knew what it was kept that knowledge to themselves. Those that know it now should do the same. Just as I will.

hi everybody
ReplyDeletejust registered and put on my todo list
hopefully this is just what im looking for looks like i have a lot to read.
this kind of topic is good for people to learn more about it, and that people should be every day less ignorant, and medicine for this is the reading of issues like this
ReplyDeleteHere's a idea. We have lords standing over a Lotus flower which is the stem of a long tube that looks like a fluorescent bulb. Under the bulb you have smaller people that look like they are in worship. Perhaps it was never meant to emit energy but to focus in back through the lotus flower and then to the feet of the lords. Lotus flowers represent enlightenment and divine knowledge, The lords are being exulted through worship and technology. The wailing wall has grooves in it from peoples worship. What happens when you put static energy into a fluorescent bulb. It excites the particles and it again releases energy as light. Perhaps its meant to drain and feed?
ReplyDeleteOh and the lotus flower also represents unity of conscience
ReplyDeleteIf i made a light bulb so i could see stuff, i probably wouldn't want it to take up the whole room lol. Cannon to kill the butterfly yeah? What would they be trying to look at? and how big would you assume they would make a magnifying glass lol. Also it kinda reminds me of the joke, " How many bureaucrats does it take to change a light bulb?" lol. If their that smart how could they be that dumb??
ReplyDeleteNot to mention radiation burn lol
ReplyDeleteShalom
ReplyDeleteIt is my first time here. I just wanted to say hi!
Shalom to you too.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking a break from blogging right now to concentrate on finishing college, but I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
depends if you want to by into the lies of darwinian evolution.I have no problem accepting any technological mysteries of the ancients.I think the more complex answer usually not the right one and that the simplest explanation is usual the correct one and is often the obvious one too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they did the hieroglyphs on the stones BEFORE they placed the stones in place or while they still had enough light while in progress of finishing the temple?
ReplyDeleteKen M.
A few problems
ReplyDelete(1) the bulb would be way to hot to hold for very long.
(2) the "insulator" is not present in both "bulbs"
(3) the people underneath are a bit small for holding up such a heavy GLASS bulb
(4) it appears you cannot see the background behind the "glass"
(5) the other image has the "wire" extending from the ground so any power source is unclear.
(6) the thing inside clearly looks like a snake and the flower looks like . . well . . . a flower.
(7) such a discover should have brought us a huge change in human history . . . yet very little impact besides this image appears to have been left.
First: The snake is not a snake - its the depiction of a waveform as in a sinusoidal wave of energy. The "bulb", probably lost its meaning through the ages but the snake and bulb combined represent light or more importantly, electromagnetic energy. We now know that in quantum physics, light or Em radiation has duality ie it can exist as both a particle and a wave. Whats the easiest way to draw this on paper? An elipse with a wave in it... Over time this would have lost its meaning and here it is represented as a tube with a snake in it, the tube representing the particle, the snake, the wave.
ReplyDeleteSecond: The end of the "snake" points upward depicting an upward direction. The upward direction is nothing to do with light, it's gravity. Thats how the massive blocks were shifted to build the pyramids.
Third: Uncle Sam will persecute me for telling you this...
